5 Family Fun Night Ideas

Often with young children you find that sometimes it might be easier to stay in for the night then take the whole gang out.  However, even though you are home, you want to make the most of it and have the best family night you can.  Try out these five family fun nights, as they are sure to make your entire family make memories you’ll never forget!

Camp inside or outside

If it is a nice night, you can set up a tent in your backyard, create a campfire, make s’mores, and tell bedtime stories. If you need to keep your campout inside, you can do the same, with some modifications. Pitch a tent in your living room, make a fire in your fireplace, and roast your marshmallows there to make some s’mores.

Taco Bar and Baking!

An exciting way to make dinner one night is to set up a taco bar with all the different fixings. You can allow your children to put whatever they want on their tacos, giving them the control. After dinner, you can bake some cookies together, again allowing your children to pick the shapes, and then once they are cooled, choosing how to decorate them. You can line up icing, sprinkles, gems, and more to create a delicious cookie.

Play a Card Game

There are many card games that you can play that are kid friendly. Pending your children’s age, you can play charades, Go Fish, matching, or even Spot it. Charades get the kids up and moving, which also will help tire them out for bed! Go Fish and matching games allow your children to use their memory to find matches. Also, Spot it is great for all ages as it has different pictures on each card and no matter what two cards you put down, a picture matches. This is a great game to practice focusing and memory.

Building Competition

Kids really enjoy building with legos, blocks, or magnets. Have a friendly competition where each person in the family builds their own building. You can add some music and get your imagination flowing.

Family Olympics

Your family does not have to be filled with athletes to enjoy this type of night. You can do silly races like passing a fruit around and when the music stops, you are out. You can do a water balloon or egg toss race, hopscotch, jump rope, or other outdoor activities. Creating interesting challenges will be part of the fun as well.
