3 Kid-Approved Non-Candy Halloween Treats

Okay, I will be the first to admit that a chocolate and hazelnut candy bar can be the perfect indulgent after a long and stressful day. But there is nothing more horrifying than the idea of watching your little one try to devour an entire bag full of sugary-sweets when Halloween comes around.

While Halloween may not bring to mind healthy or non-candy treats, don’t be tricked into thinking that there aren’t any fun alternatives! In the season of ghost and goblins, where everything is not as it seems, here are some health-conscious and creative Halloween treats:

  1. Glow Sticks: Now these are both fun and functional because Halloween nights are usually cold and dark. Making matters worse, Halloween costumes are notorious for having low-visibility. Glow sticks provide great light-reflection for trick-or-treating but also are endlessly entertaining for little ones! Even big ones, because who doesn’t love a good glow stick!
  2. Temporary Halloween tattoos or stickers: From silly pumpkins to creepy-crawlies, glow-in-the-dark Halloween tattoos and stickers can be the perfect items to hand out at events and to give to trick-or-treaters. Not only are they fun but they are also long-lasting. Any leftovers can be stored and shared the next year. But be sure to check to see if they are safe and non-toxic.
  3. Vampire teeth: Any young child will be filled with glee when you give them a set of vampire teeth! They are fun, they promote imaginative play, and they can be incorporated into any costume. If you are concerned with allergies, this is also a perfect option!
